Specialties

Where I focus

Twenty years of training. Four things I know best.

Every specialty here comes from lived clinical experience — not a continuing-ed weekend.

Addiction & Recovery

Since 2018, I’ve worked across multiple roles at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation — as an SUD counselor, clinical trainer, and family services professional — treating alcoholism and addiction and helping families rebuild around a loved one’s recovery. I bring my own 20 years of sobriety into this work, not as a talking point, but as context for why I don’t flinch at the hard parts.
Who this is for: Anyone in active recovery, considering treatment, or supporting a family member through addiction.

Family & Codependency

Addiction and mental health struggles rarely stay contained to one person — they reshape the whole family system. I work with individuals and families to identify codependent patterns, rebuild boundaries, and repair trust, drawing on my Family Services background at Hazelden and the Duluth Model framework.
Who this is for: Family members of someone in recovery, couples untangling enabling patterns, anyone who’s realized they’ve lost themselves in someone else’s crisis.

Grief & Complex Trauma

For ten years, I’ve facilitated a complex trauma and grief group at Valerie’s House, a local nonprofit dedicated to grief and loss. That work has shaped how I approach loss in one-on-one sessions too — with room for grief that doesn’t resolve on a tidy timeline.
Who this is for: Anyone carrying grief, loss, or trauma that feels too complicated to talk about at the dinner table.

Long-COVID Adjustment

Five years ago, I lost my sense of smell and taste to long COVID — and I still don’t have them back. I understand, personally, how disorienting it is to adjust to a body and a life that changed without your permission. I work with clients navigating the ongoing mental and emotional impact of long COVID, alongside whatever else it’s brought up.
Who this is for: Anyone still adjusting — physically, mentally, or both — to life after long COVID.
